With a simple swab of the cheek, a bit of your DNA is collected. Be The Match® uses this DNA to figure out your HLA typing; your unique markers that can match you with patients in need of a life-saving marrow transplant.

Like your DNA, your HLA markers are inherited from your parents and from your ancestors. That is why donors are more likely to match patients with similar ethnicity.

YOUR AGE AND HERITAGE MATTER
There are not enough young registry members of diverse racial and ethnic heritage to help all patients in need of a marrow transplant. Our mission is to change that by adding more young, diverse registry members. Remember, people 18 - 44 are 10 times more likely to be called to donate.
